IP CCTV

What is IP CCTV
IP CCTV operates on existing wired and wireless TCP/IP computer networks and removes the need for running separate cables for the CCTV system, making installation quick and inexpensive. As the IP CCTV system operates over a network the cameras can be accessed by anyone on the same network or via the Internet and recorded onto a PC. This increases the ease of use for accessing the cameras data.

Another advantage of IP CCTV cameras are that they can connect directly to the network or ADSL connection, the use of a PC is not required. The cameras are self contained and supplied ready for connection, with this in mind there will be a large reduction in security costs. These cost savings will be made up of;

  • a reduction in labour to monitor the cameras
  • a reduction in PC costs as all IP CCTV cameras can be accessed from one PC
  • a reduction in Hardware and Maintainance costs as the cameras have less components there is inevitabily less to go wrong.

Key Features of IP CCTV

  • Alarm
  • Motion Detection
  • Video Recording
  • Email Notification
  • Remote Camera Operation for Wide / Detailed Views
  • Pan / Tilt / Zoom Control

Should the need arise for additional coverage the system can grow by adding extra network cameras. This is easily undertaken regardless of whether the new cameras are to be placed at the same site, or at a new location communicating over the Internet.

The majority of businesses now have high-speed, IP based networks connected to the Internet. Under these circumstances setting up an IP-Surveillance system is both simple and cost effective. Once the basic system is up and running, it can be fine tuned in a number of ways.

  • Additional cameras can easily be added, as well as features such as Power over Ethernet, which eliminates the need for power outlets at the camera locations
  • All communication runs over the IP network, so there is no need for additional cabling.
