As more and more people have started to work from home the need for secure access to the corporate network has grown from a few unsecured dial-up connections to many concurrent VPN tunnels extending the corporate LAN too many different locations.

Using encryption technologies DIS can provide a scalable and secure solution to provide either a software client encrypted VPN tunnel or hardware based encrypted tunnels providing constant secure access to the corporate network.

IPsec and SSL are two protocols employed to create secure vpn tunnels.  IPSec can be provided either by a "client" on an individual device or can be deployed via a dedicated piece of hardware such as a firewall or router. SSL differs in that the client is replaced by a browser, which has the code for SSL built into it. 
Simply going to a specified web address (url) will create the SSL tunnel for a user with the correct credentials (as per Internet banking etc).  Both methods are secure and deployment depends on what services the user needs, equipment available to them and how the applications and services are to be deployed, which DIS can help to determine for you.
