| Intrusion Prevention and DetectionIntrusion Prevention technologies can be deployed at the edge of your network to prevent unauthorised access to your network. These technologies work in real-time to monitor all attempted and successful connection to your network. If any of these connections match any of the conditions set in the signature database a number of actions can be taken to protect your network. These include alerting you to the connection, resetting the connection or blocking it altogether. Intrusion Detection is usually implemented alongside Intrusion Prevention to provide a secondary failsafe. A number of Intrusion Prevention sensors can be deployed in critical areas of your network, such as Server Farms, Data Centres or E-Commerce Centres. This will ensure that should any threat manage to evade the Intrusion Prevention initially the Intrusion Detection sensors will be monitoring all connections and given more time will detect this unauthorised connection.
